The most complete technical environment in this guide. Powerful in confident hands; demanding for an operator with no development background.

Replit, founded in 2016, is a cloud development platform; Replit Agent is the AI that builds apps, websites and agents inside it from a conversation12.
Best for: Teams with some technical confidence that want an agent to build an app or workflow and the full environment to run it: database, deployments and connectors.
Not the right fit for: Non-technical operators who want a business system without touching a development environment.
What Replit Agent builds
The agent produces a working project with a built-in database and user authentication, and can build other agents and workflows2. The database is a fully managed PostgreSQL instance, with 20 GB of development storage, or 50 GB on Pro and Enterprise, under a hard cap3. Apps can be deployed as autoscale, reserved-VM, static or scheduled deployments; controls on who can access a deployed app are available on Pro and Enterprise4.
For larger companies, Replit's enterprise tier adds SSO, SCIM provisioning, role-based access, bring-your-own-cloud and audit logging, with connectors for Snowflake and Salesforce5.
How usage is billed
Since June 2025 the agent has been billed by effort: one checkpoint per request, with simple changes costing less than complex ones. Before that, each checkpoint cost a flat $0.256. Credits also pay for published apps, storage and databases, and spending can be capped with budget limits and usage alerts7.
Published evidence
- Helix Electric. Replit’s enterprise page cites an 85% efficiency gain on compliance audits at Helix Electric. Vendor-reported; no full case study was reviewed.5
Strengths and limits
Strengths
- A complete environment: database, deployments (autoscale, reserved VM, static and scheduled) and storage in one place.
- Spending controls include hard budget limits and usage alerts.
- Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM, role-based access, bring-your-own-cloud and audit logging, plus Salesforce and Snowflake connectors.
Limits
- Effort-based pricing makes the cost of a change hard to predict before it runs.
- Development database storage has a hard cap (20 GB, or 50 GB on Pro and Enterprise).
- Access controls on who can see a deployed app need Pro or Enterprise.
- A development platform at heart: maintaining what the agent builds assumes some technical skill.
Choose another option if: No one on the team is comfortable in a development environment. Softr or OpenLazarus ask less of the operator.
Pricing
Published: Core $20 a month ($18 billed annually) with $20 of credits; Pro $100 a month ($90 annually) with $100 of credits. Enterprise on request.
Questions to ask before building on Replit
- Who on our team can read and maintain what the agent writes?
- What budget limit should we set, and what does a typical change cost in our project?
- Do we need Enterprise for SSO and audit logs, or are Pro's access controls enough?
- Where will the database live, and how large will it grow in a year?
